Duo Comedy Showcase is Seattle’s only public open-mic for improv. Two-person teams doing what they do best: creating spontaneous scenes on the fly that are so hilarious, quick-witted, and perfectly constructed, it’s hard to believe they are made up on the spot. At Duos, newer improvisers have an opportunity to improve while professional improvisers practice and try new things. Sarah Hanchar, Christine Riippi, and Guy Nelson, members of the Unexpected Productions ensemble, are joining forces to celebrate the most beloved aspect of the holiday season: Hallmark’s feel-good holiday movie musicals! This festive event will commence with a sing-along and culminate in a holiday movie musical tailored to your suggestions. Hogan Cup FINALS 11/25 7:00 PM

Congratulations to the teams who advanced to finals! The final teams face off in the improv championship matches between Puget Sound high schools! The Hogan Cup is the first high school improvisational competition of its kind in the Northwest, with top training from Unexpected Productions coaches. Admission is free for participating students and teachers.

Unexpected Productions has been teaching improv to high school students for over twenty years. The Finals share many of the same characteristics as our own Theatresports, with some exceptions. This event provides the students with a less competitive environment, giving them the freedom to learn through experience and teamwork with less fear of making “mistakes.”

The admission price helps pay for the Hogan Cup program.

Fall Improv Student Showcase  12/2 6:30pm & 8:00pm

Join us for the Fall Student Showcase at Unexpected Productions’ Market Theater! Witness students of varying levels attempt to create intriguing improv live on stage. Our 300, 400, and 500-level class students will showcase their new skills, giving you a glimpse into the future of improv stars. You are sure to have a great time as our students dive into different formats seen in UP’s mainstage shows. After the show, you can hang out with the cast and say you knew them before they became famous!

Join us for a night of laughter and spontaneous fun at our Improv Happy Hour! This family-friendly improv comedy show offers a variety of improv styles, including movie, literature, and play genres, as well as experimental and daring comedic forms. All content is based on audience suggestions, so be ready for some unexpected fun! The show takes place at the Gum Wall in Pike Place Market and is a unique experience you won’t want to miss.

Xtreme Theatresports New Year’s Eve Party! 12/31 10:00pm

Get ready for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve celebration filled with laughter, companionship, and champagne! Join Unexpected Productions for Seattle’s one-of-a-kind fast-paced comedy improv battle, featuring 20 hilarious improvisers divided into 4 teams.

The audience scores each performance with cards marked 0-5, making this a party you won’t want to miss. We’ll are giving away amazing gifts and providing all the hats, streamers, and party favors you can think of. As the clock strikes midnight, we’ll raise our glasses for a special champagne toast, marking the start of a new year. The Xtreme teams will perform from 10 pm to almost midnight, leading up to the countdown for our fantastic New Year’s bash! Doors open at 9 pm sharp. Come join in on the fun!
